What It Was

The Singapore Science Center's new iSpace wing focuses on information technology with special attention given to educating children through interactive and engaging experiences. The hope was to transform people’s perception about technology and let them know that it's potentially fun and useful. The 20,000 sq ft exhibit contains over 100 exhibits including Robotics, optics and the latest technology from Carnegie Mellon University and the MIT Media Lab.

What We Did

Lightswitch brought the architecture to life using LED's backlighting translucent surfaces. Lightswitch worked with exhibit producer Falcon's Treehouse to animate the space with color and movement. Lighting was tied into Show Control to synch the lighting to soundtracks, elevators and specific exhibits.

Why It Worked

The lighting helped lead the guests through the experience with combinations of intensity, directional chases and flowing color. The space seemed to come alive with energy reflecting the programmatic and emotional direction of an area at any given time.
The exhibit came together in less than 9 months from Schematic to completion. Lightswitch's integration with local contractor Kingsmen helped the Producers visions come to fruition.
