Canada: The Spirit of a Country

Parliament Hill - Ottawa, Canada

What It Was

Grand Pinnacle Silver Award - The International Festival and Events Association

An all new sound and light show lights up Parliament Hill in 2005. This inspiring show uses fantastic lighting effects and impressive, gigantic images. It is woven with a rich tapestry of words, music and sounds to tell the story of Canada, a nation of communicators. The half-hour program runs summer evenings on Parliament Hill, an extraordinary place to watch a show.

Everything that makes Canada spectacular, challenges us to find better ways to communicate. Our sweeping landscapes can make connecting between our communities an adventure. Living in a bilingual, multicultural country we have become some of the best communicators in the world. Share the songs, poems, stories and visions that highlight many of our cultural and technological achievements. Come celebrate the spirit of a country.

What We Did

Lightswitch was engaged to coordinate the projection systems and to act as creative advisors. Basically Lightswitch was hired to deal with all of the large format projection elements. Working closely with AVH Business to Business, Lightswitch advised on the best way to use the large format technology in the show. Lightswitch staff was also onsite to implement the design as well as train the local staff of the National Capital Commission.

Why It Worked

Our extensive experience working on large projection projects was invaluable to the process. We were honored to be asked to be a part of a very special project and we helped to guide the content in a direction that would be dramatic and have great impact when projected 300' tall.
